GIF size scales almost linearly with this. 10-15 looks smooth for screen recordings.
Leave empty to start from the beginning.
Zero uses the whole clip. GIFs longer than about ten seconds get very large.
How to use this tool
Set the start, duration, width and frame rate. A duration of zero processes the entire video, so specify a short interval to avoid accidentally creating a very large animation from a long file.
Results and examples
Inspect motion, color banding and file size. The 256-color limit and repeated frames can change the appearance from the original video, while greater width and frame rate increase memory and storage demands.
Worked example
Choose a three-second interval starting at five seconds, 12 fps and width 480 for a short looping demo GIF. Encode the same interval at widths 320 and 640 to compare transfer size and text readability.
Limitations
- GIF carries no audio and limited palette colours can band gradients.
- Duration zero means the entire clip and can make a very large file from a long input.

Processing stays in the current browser tab; the site does not upload tool input for the calculation itself.
