How to use this tool
Choose the mode before entering X and Y. Share mode requires nonzero whole Y, while change requires nonzero starting X; a zero-base error should not be interpreted as an infinite growth rate.
Results and examples
Amount is Y×X/100, share is X/Y×100 and change is (Y−X)/X×100. Amount retains the original number’s unit, while the other two results are percentages.
Worked example
In amount mode X=20 and Y=150 gives 30; in share mode X=30 and Y=150 gives 20%.
Limitations
- Successive changes, compounding and currency conversion are not performed.
- Relative rates from negative bases require contextual interpretation.
